Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the past five grands prix.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the title advantage from Piastri by one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before sprint qualifying set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in realistic title contention, trailing 36 points behind behind Norris, finished in P17 as his team ran a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, if briefly, when he lost control at the fourth corner soon after starting.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before spinning across the escape zone, and was blessed to escape with just a slight brush of the wall.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the very end of the session, rotating twice through the quick descending corner approaching the last turn on to the pit straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, over half a second off Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
